A Great Victory at the World Championship

The national team of Turkmenistan achieved a historic and magnificent victory at the Youth World Weightlifting Championships held in Cali, Colombia. Competing in the up to 53 kg weight category, our talented athletes managed to raise the sporting prestige of our country high on the international stage.
Demonstrating a high level of preparation and determination from the very first days of the competition, our compatriot Ogulshat Amanova earned the high title of the world's strongest athlete in the 53kg weight category. Amanova lifted 86 kg in the snatch and 105 kg in the clean and jerk, managing to lift a total of 191 kg across both disciplines to win the overall gold medal. Furthermore, she outperformed her competitors in the individual disciplines, winning the small gold medals as well.
Another of our country's athletes, Shabnam Kerimbayeva, also competed in the same weight category. As a result of intense and exciting competition, Shabnam managed to lift 83 kg in the snatch and 105 kg in the clean and jerk. With a total result of 188 kg, Kerimbayeva finished the world championship in third place and won the bronze medal. In addition, she also secured the small silver medal in the clean and jerk.
The second place in the overall standings went to Jodi Peralta from the Philippines. She lifted 85 kg in the snatch and 103 kg in the clean and jerk, achieving a total of 188 kg. Thus, although she achieved the same total weight as Shabnam Kerimbayeva, she was awarded the silver medal in accordance with the tie-break regulations.
