Turkmen weightlifter Davranbek Hasanbayev earned his country a medal at the 2024 World Weightlifting Championships in Manama, Bahrain. Competing in the 102kg weight category, Hasanbayev secured a small bronze in the snatch, lifting 182 kg. This success was the highlight of his performance, as he failed to make any successful attempts in the clean and jerk, finishing the competition with no result in that lift.
Among 24 athletes from 21 countries, Hasanbayev showed a strong performance in the snatch but was unable to claim a medal in the overall total. The bronze medal in the total went to Spain's Marcos Ruiz, who lifted 395 kg (183+212). The silver went to Ibrahim Elbah from Qatar with a total of 399 kg (174+225), and the gold was won by Kazakhstan’s Artem Antropov, who lifted 400 kg(170+230).
Despite the setback in the clean and jerk, Hasanbayev's bronze in the snatch was an important achievement for Turkmenistan's weightlifting, highlighting the athlete's high level of preparation.
