Shahzadbek Matyakubov Wins Gold at Asian Weightlifting Championship with World Record

Turkmen weightlifter Shahzadbek Matyakubov won the gold medal at the Asian Junior and Youth Weightlifting Championship in Doha, Qatar. Not only did he take first place, but he also set two junior world records.
Competing in the 102 kg weight category, Matyakubov delivered an exceptional performance. He set a new junior world record in the clean and jerk with a lift of 219 kg and also broke the world record for the total in the snatch and clean and jerk with a combined result of 396 kg (177 kg in the snatch and 219 kg in the clean and jerk).
Iran’s Alireza Nasiri claimed second place with a total of 389 kg (171+218), while his compatriot Abolfazl Zare took third with a total of 366 kg (172+194).
This achievement marks a significant milestone for Turkmen sports, showcasing the high level of training among the country’s young weightlifters.
