Tennis girls from Turkmenistan successfully started the II group tournament of the Asia and Oceania region

Girls from Turkmenistan began their performances in the II group competition of the Asia and Oceania region for the Billie Jean King Cup, held in Dushanbe (Republic of Tajikistan). The women's team of Turkmenistan consists of 5 athletes.
According to the results of the tournament with the participation of 8 countries, the national teams applying for the Cup were divided into two groups. In group "A" our compatriots will compete with the national teams of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Mongolia. The national teams of Uzbekistan, Guam, Brunei and Sri Lanka will play matches in group "B".
On the first day of the competition - August 22, members of the women's tennis team of Turkmenistan demonstrated their first performances. On this day, in the group standings, the national team of Turkmenistan managed to defeat the hosts - the national team of Tajikistan with a score of 2:0. Anastasia Azimbayeva defeated her rival from Tajikistan Anastasia Tursunova (6:3; 7:6), and Maryam Mamedova defeated local athlete Gulnozhan Yokhaneva (6:0; 6:0).
In doubles, our compatriots Rozhan Karadjaeva and Aisha Bikbulatova beat Tajik athletes Malika Rakhimova and Sumaya Tukhtaeva (6:1, 6:0).
