Today, in the capital's Olympic village held a meeting on the occasion of the departure of the Turkmen athletes to the Olympics, which will be held from 5 to 21 august in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).

The farewell ceremony of our athletes to the main event of world sport was attended by representatives of the State committee on sports, National Olympic committee and the Executive Committee on preparation of V Asian Games, other sports units, coaches and top athletes.

The participants listened with great attention to the Address of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Turkmen athletes participating in the XXXI Olympic Games in which the Turkmen leader expressed belief that our athletes will perform at the highest level and win award winning places, thus praising the Turkmen sport.

The Olympics - a serious test for the Turkmen athletes, the results of which are particularly important in the context of the preparation of the national team for the forthcoming 2017 V Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts in Ashgabat.

Victories of our compatriots in the last major international competitions make it possible to rely on their successful performance in Rio de Janeiro. The awards can be claimed by several athletes who have achieved good results, among them - the master of sports of international class in judo - Gulbadam Babamuratova, who was rewarded twice (2014 and 2015) the title of the best athlete of Turkmenistan.

On the way to the cherished Olympic ticket trainee of Chemengul Geldybaeva, Gapura Babakulieva distinguished in four Grand Prix competitions, bringing in the treasury of sporting achievements of our country two gold, a silver and a bronze medals. She also climbed to the third step of the podium at the spring championship of Asia and was fifth in the world championship-2015. These achievements have identified the place for G.Babamuratova in the top ten wrestlers in the world and the Olympic rankings.

In her speech at today's meeting, Gulbadam expressed profound gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for providing the conditions for a productive exercise, which are the main guarantee of high achievements. She assured that at the Olympic Games in Brazil she will do everything possible to please all the fans of our country with beautiful fights on the sports rug. She will have to fight for a medal in the weight category of up to 52 kilograms.

Not less hope for a successful performance in the Turkmen Olympic team is assigned to Arslanbek Achilov, which at the world boxing championship, held in June in the capital of Azerbaijan - Baku reached the finals. On the way to the showdown, our compatriot won five convincing victories over sportsmen from Tajikistan, Taipei, Switzerland, Italy and India. The trainee of the honored coach of Turkmenistan Shohrat Kurbanov, according to sports writers, had every opportunity to become a world champion, but a hurtful injury did not allow him to perform in the final match.

It is worth noting that the mentor of our Olympian boxer S.Kurbanov has by performed in 2008 in the main competitions of the planet, held in Beijing. And in London-2012 and now in Rio-2016, he participates as a coach.

The record-breaker of the World Universiade 2013 in Kazan in the weightlifting competitions - Hojamuhammedov Toychiev - made his way to the Olympics because of the silver awards won in the double-event at the spring championship of Asia, held in Tashkent (Uzbekistan). Turkmen sportsmen distinguished in the category of over 105 kg where in the snatch he coped with the weight of 190 kg, and in clean and jerk - fixed over the head 237 kg barbell. This result secured H.Toychiev the new national record.
