Turkmen Weightlifter Islam Akmyradov Wins Silver at World Youth Championship

Young Turkmen weightlifter Islam Akmyradov achieved a remarkable result at the World Youth Weightlifting Championship currently being held in Peru. Competing in the 96 kg weight category, he earned a silver medal with a total of 316 kg — lifting 141 kg in the snatch and 175 kg in the clean and jerk.
In this weight category, the gold medal was claimed by Armenia’s Grigor Kazaryan with a total of 330 kg (145+185), while the bronze went to India’s Parwu Chaudhary, who lifted a total of 315 kg (140+175).
Earlier at the same championship in Peru, Turkmen athletes Dydarbek Jumabayev (81 kg) and Kakamyrat Annamyradov (73 kg) also won silver medals, while Ogulshat Amanova (55 kg) secured a bronze medal in the clean and jerk and placed fourth overall in her category.
These achievements by young Turkmen weightlifters reflect the results of the large-scale efforts being undertaken in the development of sports in Turkmenistan.
