In Harbin, China, the hockey tournament began as part of the 9th Winter Asian Games. The Turkmen national team, in its first match of Group C, defeated the Macau team with a resounding score of 26-0.
This victory was the largest in the history of Turkmen hockey. Despite such a convincing win, the head coach of the Turkmen national team urged his players not to relax and to focus on the upcoming matches.
"We are happy with this victory, but it is only the first step," Baymyrat Baymyradov said. "We have two more group games ahead of us, and we must be fully prepared for them."
The Turkmen hockey players' next opponent will be the Indian team, with the match taking place on February 6. Turkmenistan will complete the group stage on February 9 with a match against Hong Kong.
It is worth noting that the Hong Kong team has also been impressive at the start of the tournament, securing two significant victories over Macau (26-1) and India (30-0). Therefore, the match between Turkmenistan and Hong Kong promises to be one of the most exciting in Group C.
The quarter-final matches of the men's hockey tournament at the Winter Asian Games will be held on February 11.
