Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Hussein Al-Musallam Discussed the Development of Sports in Turkmenistan

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia and President of the World Aquatics Hussein Al-Musallam. The parties discussed current issues of developing the Olympic movement in Turkmenistan and prospects for international cooperation in the field of sports.
The head of state emphasized the special role of sports in strengthening the health of the nation and educating a harmoniously developed personality. It was noted that Turkmenistan is actively promoting the development of the Olympic movement, expanding international cooperation with such authoritative organizations as the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Council of Asia.
Particular attention was paid to the development of water sports. The parties discussed the possibility of organizing major international water sports competitions in Turkmenistan, which could give impetus to the popularization of these disciplines in the region and the world.
The meeting also touched upon the issues of promoting Turkmen sports on the international arena. Large-scale sports forums regularly held in Turkmenistan serve not only to develop sports but also to strengthen cultural ties between peoples.
