Surajbek Sapaev became the vice-champion of Asia among juniors

Turkmen sportsman Surajbek Sapaev became the vice-champion of Asia with three medals in snatch, clean & jerk and total of two types at the Asian championship in weightlifting among juniors and youths held in the capital of Uzbekistan.

The 11th-grade student of the 2nd secondary school in Gurbansoltan eje district, Dashoguz velayat achieved this success in the competition among teenagers under 17 years of age, which took place with the participation of five athletes weighing 96 kilograms.

Surajbek managed to lift the bar in three of his six attempts. The results he showed were enough for him to win bronze medals in the snatch (135 kg), silver in the C&J (159 kg), and overall silver (294 kg).

As a result, our athlete managed to lift 4 kilograms more than the top three weightlifters - Amirhossein Sebah (Iran). His result was 5 kg less than that of Abrorbek Marufbekov (Uzbekistan), the champion of Asia.

It is said that 17-year-old Surajbek Sapaev, the holder of the first sports degree, was trained in weightlifting by the famous coach of Turkmenistan, Momin Rejepov, in Gurbansoltan eje district of Dashoguz province, and improved under the leadership of Ahmet Saryev, the head coach of the youth team of the country, during training sessions in Ashgabat. The Asian Championship between youths (up to 17 years old) and youth (up to 21 years old) is held in Tashkent's «Yunosabat» sports complex.
